Kimberly Steiner
Kimberly has experience working with individuals, couples, adolescents, and families from a diverse population, addressing a variety of issues, including sexual and childhood trauma, grief and loss, self-harming, conflict resolution, co-dependency, career and life transitions, and readjustment. She has considerable experience working with military personnel and first responders, addressing trauma-related issues. She has also developed specialized programs for active duty military personnel dealing with the effects of combat related Post-Traumatic Stress. Kimberly has facilitated both individual and group counseling, including helping to establish a women’s group focused on healing from military sexual trauma.
Her integrated relational counseling approach utilizes a variety of evidenced-based therapy techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy, emotion regulation skills, and grounding techniques.
Kimberly is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master of Arts in Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor. She is licensed in Virginia, New York, and Texas, and certified in EMDR.
Kimberly has lived and worked in the United States and Japan. Before pursuing a career in counseling, Kimberly worked in education where she greatly enjoyed the relationships she formed and the stories she was privileged to hear. She readily embraces any opportunity to travel to new destinations, and finds that she feels most at home in an airport. She enjoys the outdoors, watching movies, reading, and spending time with her husband, family, and friends.
